They are many drivers that contributed during the 60's , but the one that seamed to contribute continueously was Richard Petty/Petty Enterprizes. The innovations that they came up with helped step up the durability of the cars. Also Richard was one of the first drivers to understand that the fans werethe reason he had a job. His availability to the fans was one of the reasons of the increased popularity of NASCAR.

As with anything that changes, it just takes a little getting used to. I see nothing wrong with the changes that have been done. As for the negativity, I'm probably guilty. Since I've gotten older, I am more opinionated.Chalk it up to caring about this sport.

Jeff, I came across this web site a little less than a year ago, and I feel like I had found a long lost family member. I thought that I was the only one that yearned for the 60's and 70's. I never did take a camera with me back then, so I thought all those wonderful cars were lost in time. To see all the photos that EVERYONE had put on this web site is for ANYONE to look at is wonderful. And then to have discussions with others that were right there with me,watching the same things that I did is AMAZING! THANK YOU,Jeff and all the other members of RR for helping this old man remember some of the best times of my life.

Stock Car Racing History
Dick Wallen Productions has some great film clips of the 60's NASCAR and USAC stock car racing. He even had a camera in Tiny Lund's galaxie. Riding around with Tiny was fantastic.
