For all you Kart racing fans
General
Thanks Jeff for giving these guy's a plug.Karting was my life once spent many many years with the karts.Liberty takes me way back when the days of karting was in it's hay day.Billy was right ,if you could win at Liberty you could win anywhere.Unless you have been a part of karting it is hard to see just how much work it takes and how much it means to karters.I have seen Robbie talk of karting and i still feel the burning inside as he does.
I have also seen the danger in karting with me and my son, more with my son.We raced to have fun but the danger was still there.I watched Dale S.R. bring J.R. to a kart race when J.R. was a kid. First time on the track J.R. takes off wide open and wraps around the tires in the corner.J.R. comes off the track and they load it up and as far i know they never returned.
I have seen many go from karting to stockcars just to return back to karting. Some of them say they couldn't afford the car racing and some would say the people in karting brought them back. The talent in these karts were amazing. Some made it to big time racing some never did some never wanted to leave.Karting is a great place to start out or make a life long commitment.
Karting even has it's own Waltrip ( knows Tim would like this).Bobby Waltrip is the voice in a lot of the big races. The people love him not because his name but he is one of them.Karting teaches you so much other then just racing. It allowed me and my son to spend countless of hours together.Every weekend he was with me.He did not do the party stuff as a kid he did not have time.We was busy racing every weekend.Karting took him away from the drugs and the alcohol.I knew the dangers karting but i also knew the dangers of drugs and the wrong crowd.Karting was much safer then what the world offered him and me,no matter the cost.
I could go on forever about karting but maybe another day. Thanks again Jeff i know how much it means to the karters to get recognized.
