Has Hendrick supassed Petty Enterprises in wins?

Stock Car Racing History

I stumbled across an article from 2012 that mentioned HMS had recently gotten its 200th win which put them second to Richard Petty in team wins. I assume that they meant Petty Enterprises and were going all the way back to Lee Petty's days.

At that time, they mentioned 287 wins for Petty's team. It's been three years since that article and Hendrick remains successful while RPM wins don't count toward Petty's total in my mind.

Can anyone point me to a link that tells me the current total? And I thought I remembered reading that the Wood Brothers team has more wins than Petty.

What's the worst race you've watched besides there being a death?

Stock Car Racing History

I remember the buildup to that race and didn't watch because it seemed like it would be a poor race. Three years later, Goodyear and NASCAR nearly replicated the story and cars were forced to pit every ten laps. The prestige of the Brickyard 400 has been sinking ever since.

It hasn't been run yet but will be the Fall Talladega race this year. It's a restrictor plate race which has its own problems but it's also a Chase elimination race this year.Everybody is going to be tip-toeing around the track, making sure that they don't cause the big wreck that takes out a chase driver. Especially a wreck that takes out Harvick, Earnhardt, Gordon or Keselowski. A win won't mean much to anyone who isn't in the running for the championship so the risk is too great to bull your way to the front and cause a wreck on the way. Even if you have two guys fighting for position for the last cutoff spot, it's a plate race and skill doesn't really come into play as much as pit work.

ANYONE WATCH THE SHORT TRACK RACE ON TV ?

Current NASCAR

I don't think it will take much patience before he wins one. I hope it isn't Talladega, that would be like getting your first victory in a rain-shortened race. They always say that anyone can win a restrictor plate race and I think that takes away some of the prestige, even for the Daytona 500.

ANYONE WATCH THE SHORT TRACK RACE ON TV ?

Current NASCAR

Earlier this year I was lamenting about howe bad the Roush team was and that their engines were dragging down every other Ford team. Seems that Penske found a way around that. Roush should sell his team in the off-season and send Stenhouse over to RPM because none of the free agents in Cup are any better than Ambrose was.I never thought Logano was any good but I guess he fits Penske better since Joe Gibbs is no slouch.I was sure that Junior realized he was running out of time and he had finally decided to put his shoulder into it and win the championship. Now it looks like he just isn't good enough. I still see greatness in him somewhere but not on the track.Still haven't decided who I'd like to see as champion.

Rockfish Superspeedway - Hope Mills, NC

Stock Car Racing History

If the dogleg was that severe and the pit road was out back, I regret that I never saw a race there. This is the kind of variety that NASCAR needs in their program. Stretch it out to a half mile and polish up a few things and you've got an exciting change of pace. Park all the hauler and motorhomes off to the right there and fill up the infield with fans.

I gotta believe that the smart guys would go with a hog. Lower center of gravity. You never heard of any college boys going out pig tipping, have you?

As I'm sure someone has mentioned before, the font is entirely different on that door from what we see in the picture. It appears to be a passenger door to me but I don't expect they would have numbered the sides differently.

On the Fence

Current NASCAR

No way that fan could have climbed the fence back when the Sawyers had officers spaced about ten feet apart around the entire track when cars were running.

Based on the video that I saw, there are still security people placed every ten feet along the fence. My guess is that one guy was playing with his phone and another was looking the other way and this joker just ran between them. The security staff looks like they've been enjoying their doughnuts while the kid is younger and slimmer. With a good start he could climb above their reach quickly. Minding the fence isn't very engaging, so I'm not sure I can blame these guys for letting their attention drop but I wouldn't let them carry phones at all.
