Question: did Winston Cup teams of this time period usually use the same type of transmissionon road courses like Watkins Glen and Sonoma that they did on oval tracks, or did they use a different kind of transmission? I've dug for info but haven't found a clear answer yet..was wondering if anyone here might be able to help. Thanks

Thanks to those on this website, like Dennis Andrews and others--plus a little of my own research--I've been able to find newspaper records of some ofJD McDuffie's wins he scored back on the old dirt tracks, like Rockingham, Sanford and Dillon. Does anyone have an idea of approximately how many late model/dirt track wins he had in his lifetime? I haven't been able to find any records of wins past 1967, even though I feel like he had to have been in Victory Lane somewhere onother (non-NASCAR) short tracks of N.C. and S.C. back in those days.
Not sure I'd have the time on my hands to maintain a club page; maybe I could add the records to the SportsmanRecordsRetrieval page as I find them. I've found some partial results of Sportsman races from '76-'80 already using Google newspaper archives

I keep thinking that there's a group or club on this website that discusses NASCAR Late Model Sportsman races of the late 70's and early '80s, but I can't find it, even though I've searched quite a bit for it. I was trying tofindmore completeSportsman records/results from that time and that has proven to be a very difficult task. If anyone is interested, I can help do some research in old newspapers and stuff from time to time to see what information (if any) I can locate.
