This 200 Late Model Sportsman race was held at the ½ mile paved Augusta Speedway on Friday night July 5th, 1968. Bob Leach of Tucker, GA won the pole with Jack Ingram of Asheville, NC starting on the outside front row. James Burnett from Union, SC won the 200-lap event after several top contenders had engine problems.
Joe Thurman was transported to the hospital with a whiplash injury from a collision with Johnny Allen.
