A few weeks ago I found that my Daughter had a box of 8MM film that my Uncle Tom had taken in the early 50s.

He was a movie camera nut.

I gave this movie film to a friend of mine and he is transposing it to DVDS

He just told me there are some film of me driving stockcars.

When he finishes I will put the Racing parts on RacersReunion.

I have no idea what or where these were taken.

I hope they will give you some Idea what it was like in the "old days".

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Wow, this is exciting! I can't wait to see you and your car back in the day. It'll be fun trying to figure out what track you're at and maybe get a glimpse of who else is there.

Jim, this is just great stuff that your daughter has found. I know you will treasure it. You really had ole #20 "steaming" on the dirt! Do you have any idea where the track was that this was taken? Loved seeing the early 60s Darlington stuff, also... especially Linda V on the Pure Oil"Miss Firebird" float and that #8 Joe Weatherly / Bud Moore Pontiac and the long gone Darlington pagoda. Thanks so much for sharing this with RR. It is our privilege to get to see something like this from days gone by with an actual member on the track.

By the looks of the Red Clay I would think it was Johnson County Race Track.

It was owned by Percy Flowers, one of the largest bootleggers in Eastern North Carolina.

This was an Outlaw Track.

Thanks for the update. Percy Flowers was puportedly the biggest bootlegger in the country. I remember the old LOOK Magazine doing a feature piece on him. Jim was that track close to Smithfield, Kenly....?

Thanks again, Jim. It was in 1958 that Saturday Evening Post named Johnson County's Percy Flowers "King of the Moonshiners." Wilkes County had nothing on the Johnson County, NCbunch. Here's a video about Percy and Eastern, NC moonshine.

Wow Jim, I have got to show this to Dad. He told me that he ran a little at Johnson County before he started running late models. It may not be him but he had a '37 Ford 2-door coach just like the blue #4 in the first video clip, it just might be him. Any idea of what year this was?

Mr. Streeter. Would you consider putting this video in our video gallery here on RR? Would be nice for others to enjoy who might not follow the forum threads.

Now that you have it on youtube, it is very easy to copy the embed code and paste it in the youtube video uploader.
