Hand Lettering "Jeans Machine" 1981

gallery image
The locale was the Daytona Speedway infield in February 1981. The sign painter was hand lettering "JEANS MACHINE" on the rear of Rod Osterlund's 1981 Pontiac Wrangler Jeans Machine to be driven in the 1981 Daytona 500 by Dale Earnhardt.

Dave - any idea why the painting was done at the track vs. at the shop? The JEANS MACHINE wasn't new to the car. Was on the 2 at month earlier at Riverside as shown in [ this pic you shared previously ].

Chase, I wondered the same thing (why the lettering was being done at the track), but have no idea. I didn't arrive at Daytona in 1981 until Thursday morning (125s) of race week, so I missed a lot.
