1984 Daytona Winners

For many years Daytona Speedway has had a volunteer group called "The Checkered Flag Committee" that helps with all sorts of things during Daytona race events. Each year they have all the winners of the various events sign a checkered flag. The flag for 1984 includes Richard Petty's signature for his historic July 4th win, which was his 200th in the Cup series. Note the missing signature of July 3, 1984 Paul Revere 250 winner, Willy T. Ribbs.

Anybody have a story as to why Willy T. didn't sign the flag?

Why isn't Paul Revere 250 TransAm winner, Willy T. Ribbs' signature on the 1984 Daytona checkered winners' flag?

Tom Gloy driving one of my 7-Eleven sponsored cars (a Mercury Capri) finished 2nd in the two segment 1984 Paul Revere that Willy T. Ribbs is credited with winning, but whose signature doesn't appear on the 1984 Daytona checkered flag. By the way, that's former NASCAR track operator and Nashville attorney, Gary Baker holding down the 18th spot. Ultimate Racing History

Don't answer for you Dave - or really even a solution. I checked Twitter & had my interest piqued when I saw Willy T. had an account. But then noticed he hasn't tweeted since 2011. So it's unlikely I could raise the question there. But surely there is a way to connect with him, send the pics and ask the question.(Of course, there is a way. And don't call me Shirley.)

Thanks for playing detective, Chase. I suspect there is a "story" - whether it be a Willy T. or ISC story.

Dave or Jeff, How can I see this page without the member's thumb size photo stripe?  It's cutting off parts of photo and photo comments. The old site had an photo enlarge click button to enlarged the photo.  I don't see an photo enlarged button. How can I enlarged an member's photos to comment on them? Dennis Garrett Richmond,Va.

[/quote] Dennis, I'm not sure what you're asking about. When I view the photos, I do not see anything cutting it off. Are you looking at it from a phone, tablet, or a desktop? Do you have your computer settings at 100% or do you have them enlarged enlarged? Dave, are you seeing the photos obstructed by the member thumbnail? Anyone else? It looks great from my pc, so I need some more info to help. Thanks! Jeff

Jeff... I seem to be OK now. The first couple of days on the transition I was seeing a RacersReunion banner across the bottom of all of my photos, blocking the bottom 25% or so of the photo from view. I no longer see that banner. Dave F

Everything on this page is A-Ok!!  It's my NEXTBOOK 8 ARES ANDROID TABLET is messing me up. I'm using an NEXTBOOK 8 ARES ANDROID TABLET and I have to turned the tablet in the Up-Down position to type my comments. The Up-Down position will shown 3/4 of the the Willy T. Ribbs photo; #7 race car photo; Paul Revere 250 race stats; and comments. The other 1/4 is missing because the right side (YOU MAY ALSO LIKE) taken it's place. Missing is the RACERSREUNION logo and other white printed writing in the black boarder. Shown in black boarder is the three white bars button and the Gallery button. I have to turned the tablet in the Sideways position to see the whole top to bottom page by swiping up-down. Only thing missing is three white bar button. Update from Dennis Garrett, Richmond, Va
