NASCAR rules change for Toyota Motors

Current NASCAR

Thanks for the notes guys. Great comments. Kyle Busch has had trash cars to start some of the races he's won. Yet during the race, they figure it out and he ends up in the front or winning. He evidently has got a good communication factor going on with crew chiefs.Although I think Carl Edwards had the better car last night, he had too much of a deficit to overcome Kyle. But leading all but 3 laps is pretty impressive, even with a new restrictor plate installed. If anyone takes this lightly, just ask all those guys that finished behind him how difficult it is to pull off what Kyle, JGR and company have accomplished. I think it is exactly as you say, Robbie. They've got the cups and the nationwides figured out just bit better than others do.I've learned one thing following nascar, you don't can any ground being a whinner. Ask Jeff Gordon. Ask Rusty Wallace and others. Whines turn into boos at the race track. Of course winning all the time can achieve the same results. But then that is a delima you can easily live with.Great racing,Edwin

NASCAR rules change for Toyota Motors

Current NASCAR

Toyota motors were produced to NASCAR specifications. Now NASCAR opts to change them to satisfy the chevy/ford whinners. Changing horses in the middle of the stream is NOT good for the Nationwide Series. For example, Kyle Busch has won driving for 7 different owners. Let's see what Clint Bowyer is doing, pass the kleenex please. It's just too much, poor guy.JGR has an awesome stable of drivers. That's what makes the difference. Give those guys to Jack Rousch or Ray Everham and you'd see them in victory lane. But dock Toyota 12-20 HP and watch what they do. You may not see them in races at all next year. Times are tough for all the teams. Can NASCAR afford to squeeze the financial clout of Toyota to appease winner wannabes? I think not. I think it's a big mistake. What will Mr. B et al have to say if Toyota keeps winning in spite of the new rule? Then what Mr. Childress?Don't get me wrong, I love Richard Childress. When I see that 29 car I see a 3 underneath the new paint. But this rule change is not good for our sport that we all love so much. It sets a dangerous precident.EdwinSun City, Az

who is your favreot driver & why

Current NASCAR

Old school, I really loved the mystique of Fireball Glenn Roberts. The excitement he brought to the track was phenominal. I've only seen two like that since, Dale Sr., and Kyle Petty. Regardless if they run first or last, they are always cars to watch. When we lost Dale Sr, there was such a void of excitement in NASCAR. But now that Kyle is doing his thing, it's all back. Love him or hate him, he cannot be overlooked. Both love and hate add to his notoriety.I can't help but remember Jeff Gordon's comments after Sonoma. He said that he was amazed that Kyle Busch could keep his car on the track, it was so bad, much less be competitive. But with a lousy set up, hyper driving skill, and a pit boss second to none, they figured it out, dialed in, and he drove it to the front when it counted the most. That is greatness. So I say thank Glenn and Dale, RIP. Thank you Kyle, for bringing back the excitement to a sport that uses excitement to fuel it's survival and prosperity.

WHO WILL WIN THE CHICAGOLAND RACE?

Current NASCAR

Well, Miss Keisha, I understand how you feel. But actually, he doesn't really steal anything. He just enjoys the notariety of winning. He wins because he somehow continues to cross the finish line first. Not even Richmond was a steal. If he had been on the outside, and Jr had been on the inside, nothing would have been said. Everyone would have been happy, maybe even Jeff Gordon. The kids got talent. You can leave him out of your list. But you wont' leave him out of the lineup in Chicago land. If you miss him, look up front. Ooops! There he is. ;)Edwin

Question about tires.....

Current NASCAR

Thank you Robbie for the generous information. I have seen NASCAR racing slicks, and cut away's. So I understand what you are talking about. When they are new, there is not that much rubber there, and to say they charge so much for them. I think you said the price would choke a dog, or something like that.Anyway, its great to have a place where you can talk to drivers and get good info. So thank you again.Checkered Flags,Edwin

Question about tires.....

Current NASCAR

I've been a race fan for many years. There is one thing I've never been able to figure out.Currently, race tires are slick, no tread on the surface. When they are changed during a pit stop, they are worn, but still slick. So, my question is, what makes them lose their grip? Maybe someone here can help me.I know they lose their grip. Just can't put it together in my head as to why, since they are slick on, slick off.
