Racers Reunion

Stock Car Racing History

Johnny, since about the mid 90's I got so fed up with Nascar that I started searching for old Nascar pictures and at the same time anything from our local short tracks from the 60's and 70's. During a search I came across RR and started looking through Ray's pictures and signed on immediately. Thought I died and went to heaven!! It started out chatting with Robbie, but grew to many more who are now friends. Along with the Nascar history that I crave so much, Jeff has let us remember some of our local drivers through fan pages. Now I have everything on one site!! It doesn't get better than that.Pete, grateful in Michigan.

20 million dollar purse to the winner of------------------------------

Current NASCAR

Johnny, actually I was in-route after spending 4 days in Washington,D.C. and didn't walk through the door and turn on the T.V. until about lap 135 at Dover (Did ya miss me?). Then watching Wind Tunnel I noticed they show a picture of Danica and Tony on their promo. I thought, geeze, I'm not too far off. Danica...no, but Tony could pull it off as long as they could leave Indianapolis without all the post race stuff to get him back to the 600 to race. That wouldn't happen because of all the Indy tradition, but if one guy could do it, I'd bet on Tony!!Pete, glad to be home.

If you listen to Ol' Darrell Windbag, Danicaaa has that 20 million in the bank. Oh, you want serious teams. Anybody care to put Tony Stewart in an Indycar this year???

Tom, I know we've been looking and trying to find a picture of the Hagey Volkswagen for Billy. Hopefully a picture will surface somewhere and it's probably sitting in someone's collection with no info on it. I'd love to see the car!Pete

Yeah Cody, I didn't know 21 drivers were killed at Langhorne until Brandon mentioned it. 13 at Lakewood is very bad, too. Unfortunately no safety equipment to protect drivers or the fuel cells to prevent fires. Drivers really took their chances, didn't they.

Billy, Bobbin' Bobby Williamson did a Ghost Track segment on RR radio about Langhorne and it was one of the most dangerous tracks in America. It was a 1 mile dirt track with some pretty fast speeds at the end of the straights. I think that's where Mel Kenyon had his accident when he was burned. I think 6 or 7 drivers were killed there.Pete

Billy, my friend Mike Shaub who is a member of Racer Reunion might have some idea or could maybe refer you to someone. He's from Reading Pa. but I've seen pic's from him from Langhorne. Try him. BTW, that race on June 21, 1953 happened the day AFTER I was born. Man, do I feel old now!!Pete

Let us know if you ever find a pic of the V W. I'd love to see it! Jim Streeter is a good source for racing from around the 40's and 50's...he's an encyclopedia of info about those cars. He's the one I go to for answers.Good luck, Billy. If I find anything, I'll let you know.Pete

Billy, you've thrown a tough one out. I never heard of this until Harlow Reynolds mentioned Dick Hagey's Volkswagen in the comment section of the picture of the #12 Tucker. The Tucker is in the photo section on Stock Car Racers Reunion. Harlow might have a little more info on the car. Also, Jim Streeter might have heard about the car since he was running some Nascar around that time. Please let us know if you find anything out about the VW.Pete

How old is To Old to crawl into a race car

Stock Car Racing History

You didn't blow last weeks show, Johnny. What you did was show me and everyone else how much you care and what your friends mean to you. I enjoyed both shows.
