How old is To Old to crawl into a race car

Stock Car Racing History

You know I will, Johnny. I've caught the last two of "memories" and will listen tomorrow. These 75 and 80 year old drivers are still beating the kids.Your buddy, Pete

In your case Johnny, as long as you can get your behind strapped into a race car, you'll go!! Nice shot of Woody Moore, you can still see it in his eyes. One thing kids need to remember...Old timers teach kids everything they know, but half of what the old man knows.Pete

"See the USA in your Chevrolet"

General

I've been enjoying all the old car advertising promos that Jeff and Dustin do on Racers Reunion radio Tuesday nights. I love listening to the old advertising particularly from the Chevy brand, which has always been the standard as far as I'm concerned. Remember "See the USA in your Chevrolet", "The Heartbeat of America","Like a Rock" and" American Revolution"?

Well after 91 years, Campbell-Ewald has been fired and GM has given the advertising to a French agency. Campbell-Ewald started with Chevrolet in 1919, one year after the company was formed. Yes, back in the day of Runningboards. I realize times change, but it's still sad to see this happen. So next time when your tuned into Racers Reunion radio, think about all this Company did to make Chevrolet a household word.

Oh and the new catch phrase..."Excellence for all".

Pete, sad in Michigan.

I think it's a good idea to consolidate, Jeff. A lot of pictures that should be on the other sites are put on Stock Car RR anyway. It might also help with the State Racing Heritage pages to include everything. I'm putting some Supermodified stuff up because it's such a big part of Michigan's Racing Heritage, even though it's on Stock Car Racers Reunion. If it helps consolidate your time and makes sense economically I'd go for it.Pete

You would think with all that hot air coming out of that windbag that the car would float in mid air. I heard about the thin tubes as roll cages, but a driver might regret it if he ever needed them for safety.Pete
