do you know where last grand national dirt track race was run??

Stock Car Racing History

You know Johnny, I think todays Nascar driver could put on a good show on dirt in a cup car. I'd like to see a couple of dirt track races a year in Cup. The real good show would be the trucks!! They love the beatin' and bangin'.Pete

What is your opinion of the Talladega 2-car hookup?

General

All the lead changes that everyone is so excited about on TV was a result of the 2 car breakaway. The 2 cars could only stay out front for a couple of laps because the second car would overheat and had to pull back or out of line. Even if they tried to switch places they lost the momentum and would get passed up. There were going to be a lot of lead changes and whoever figured it out at the end (and got lucky) would win.Pete

Is Jimmy and Jeff at outs???

Current NASCAR

What I'm trying to understand is it seems more and more heated rivalries are among teammates. I don't remember that so much in the past. If I had to pick between Johnson and Gordon, I'd pick Jeff. The Chad and The Jimmie throw temper tantrums if the perfect race isn't run. You know, the one when they get all the breaks??!!Pete

James and Rosetta, this might have been before your time, but when Bud Lindeman was the track announcer at the Grand Rapids Speedrome he nicknamed Bob Senneker "Rip Tass" when Bob showed up with a tore uniform. This is from a good friend and fellow Racers Reunion member Bob Bird from Holland, Mi. (If you say it real fast you'll know what part of the uniform was torn.) James&Rosetta Werner said:
now can't remember the names that go with but a few names that I remember flying around the track are: hotdog, crash, and slick. I'm a home girl from Kalamazoo speedway though and hartford dirt track.

Oh yes, I remember him. I think his car was 00 which would be Double-Aught buckshot for 12 gauge shotgun shells. Can't say I was a big fan, but what a cool name.Pete johnny mallonee said:

100,000 Mile Comets

General

Dennis, don't feel bad...after all it's coming up on 50 years ago!!Pete Dennis Andrews said:
My apologies guys, I was remembering reading about an endurance trial in the book about Bud Moore but it was not about Comets at Daytona but Pontiacs at Indy. Bud did campaign Comets but not in '64 they were Marauders. In November of 1961 Bud built engines for Ray Nichels Pontiac Catalinas and they went after the Stevens Challenge Trophy. The challenge was to run 24 hours non stop at Indy. In doing so they set records for the fastest single lap, most laps completed in 24 hours and the highest average speed.
This just proves that my short term memory is not that good. I'll be more carefull before I put my 2 cents in next time.
