Stock Car Racing History
As always, you come through with some truly remarkable clippings, Chase.

Interesting about Pedro being in a stock car race that far back. I remember him being in the 1971 Cup race at Ontario and tangling with BP. Shame he died later that year in a sports car race at Germany.
Definitely a big blow to the racing community to lose such a legend and by all accounts, a nice person.
Thanks Tim, and Chase and Dave for the clippings.
Interestingly, almost every stock/touring car series in the world uses a similar split race format today, including the BTCC, WTCC and V8 Supercars. The 400 kilometre V8 Supercar race coming up at the Circuit of the Americas next weekend will be split up into four 100k races. They do have a few long distance events like the Bathurst 1000 or Sandown 400 too. It's a good mix that I'd like to see in NASCAR, particularly for tracks like Pocono where four 100 mile or two 200 mile races would be more exciting than a single 400 or 500 mile marathon.
Sounds wonderful, Tim. Being a space nut myself, I would be just as floored as you at seeing it fly overhead.
Ha, I remember that mayor from his apperance on an American special episode of Top Gear UK where the hosts drove around North Wilkesboro and then VIR. Jeremy Clarkson called him Boss Hogg.
Tim, you could actually see the space station, without binoculars or a telescope?
Cool story about Pardue.. winning the race in a car in that condition. You just can't carry a car on your back today like you could back then. Too much about having the perfect car now unfortunately.
Thanks Chase. Great footage. The narrowness of the old layout blows me away everytime.
