Ironic, a few years later at Richmond when Paul Sawyer wanted to change from Universal Racing Network to MRN, Bill France asked him to stay with Universal a while longer so it didn't appear that the France owned MRN had a monopoly. Performance Racing Network, owned by Button Smith only had Charlotte at the time.

Learn something every day. Did not know PRN was owned by Smith and only learned that France owned MRN when I came to Stock Car Racers Reunion. I do know that I used to be able to find a radio broadcast of a race from most anywhere and almost always in North Carolina, but not today. You will be lucky to find a race on the radio now. Searched many times while driving on Sunday afternoon and could not find a broadcast of a race, AM or FM. I guess owning it all is not always the best.
