Richmond Track "Tearing Down" Over 10,000 Seats That No Longer Sell - Sad, Sad, Sad
Current NASCAR
Their is no telling, Jimmy. I don't know how Nationwide and Truck series makes it. I mean nobody goes anymore. And the local short tracks are even more in dire straits around here. I went by Orange County Speedway, the Saturday night after we had our show. I happened to glimpse into the stands since you can see it from NC 57. I know there had to be only 100 people there, if that. The parking lot was less than a quarter full. Back in the 1980's and early 90's when I regularly attended, you had to get there early to get a great seat and to keep from parking in the boondocks. I truly am ashamed what racing has become. But Nascar can now lay in the bed that they made. They turned their backs on us loyal fans and now they need us. Oh well they won't see me coming back ever again. Another sad thing is NHRA is struggling also. But hey all you have to do is go about 70 miles west of where I live and they pack the grandstands every time at Bowman Gray in Winston-Salem. They know how to put on a show on that bull ring.
