PERHAPS THE LEGEND DOESN'T BELONG HERE AFTER ALL

General

Jeff, we definetly have to get The Legend to watch Oh Brother where art thou? I thought that was a great movie myself. But Talladega Nights its good to get on your resume and watch it but in my opinion nothing but an absolute waste of my time.

What Racing Souvenir(s) do you treasure the most?

General

I myself have been a huge collector over the years. Although I sold many of the rare diecast that I once had. I still have many books, postcards, photographs, programs and racing magazines. I don't have anything that is my personal favorite and nothing I have is very large. But I guess all of what I have are my favorites. I'm a huge coin collector and music collector but my racing collection is my pride and joy. Anything that I can collect that has something to do with Occoneechee/Orange Speedway or is an actual artifact from the speedway would always be the last to go if I had to sell my collection. The one thing I found out about collecting the books, postcards, magazines, etc. Is that they take up alot less room than the diecast. The one thing I really agree about what you said Jim, is that looking at these things make you go back to a simpler time. I feel the same although I was born in 1975. I always wish I could have lived back when times were simpler. My childhood in the 1980's was the greatest but I know when I listen to my dad and my elders that back when they were kids it seem like an even more fun time.

Google Earth - Charlotte Motor Speedway

General

There is actually a date in the lower left hand corner of the image on Google earth. That should tell you when the image was taken. Bare in mind that you need to zoom in pretty close so the date will show.

OK, I'LL BE CALLING YOU BACK WITH THAT ANSWER IN A FEW

General

Tim, I hope the weather can cooperate with yall on Saturday. Maybe the weathermen will be wrong which they seem to fairly good at doing that.Anyways I wish you all much success. This will be the first Columbia show that I will miss. I'll be spending time with my 5 week old son. But i'm prepping him so he can enjoy the Columbia show and ours at Occoneechee in the future. Thats why i'm so glad I have taken so much of my time in the past in learning stock car racing history. Now I will have a wonderful son to pass my knowledge to just like my dad did to me.

Snubbed Again in NC - What's Missing?

Stock Car Racing History

Good morning, Tim. I do remember Duke tearing up things. They do burn the benches and do the typical things that most drunk college kids do. But what I was saying was I remember when some of the teams fans that did win I remember those fools burning up property turning over cars. The fans here didnt go that nuts. I do understand what you are saying about understanding them on interviews. Thats all understood my friend. Now to my newly born son. He is simply wonderful. The family loves him to death. Actually he is a great baby. He only wakes up once in the middle of the night for his feeding. Otherwise so far he is wonderful. Even if he did wake up all the time, I wouldnt care. I love being a dad. Greatest thing in the world!!! Hope you are doing great, Tim. Hope yall are getting ready for the big weekend coming up. Hope yall do great at Columbia!

Snubbed Again in NC - What's Missing?

Stock Car Racing History

Since i'm from the state of North Carolina. I feel the need to reply. First off I need to reply to my friend Tims comment about the fans turning over cars and all that such. I know that goes on and such in other parts of the country. But me being a Duke fan, I will say that us Blue Devil, Tar Heel and Wolfpack fans have never stooped to that level while winning the 11 NCAA championships from the Triangle area. 98% of us celebrate with dignity. Now to that list, 3 of the selections should be replaced in my opinion and of course one should be of 1949 in Charlotte and the accomplishments of The King, The Intimidator, Junior Johnson and the many racing legends from the state. But as like Mike said its all politics in this state. I live in the Triangle area and if you know anything about this area. Very few could give a crap about Nascar racing. To them its that old saying thats its a redneck sport. These are the same people that make the laws in suburbs around around Raleigh that its illegal to have a pick up truck parked in your driveway. I'm not kidding. I will name the city, Cary. So when it all comes down to it, its really not surprising that those are the five that was selected. Please dont think that all North Carolina natives are like this those people are the minority. Those people are the transplants that started coming down in the mid 80's.

HEY its SUPER BOWL time ----- BUT

Current NASCAR

Well you right about one thing Johnny. You defintely wont have trouble finding a ticket to the Daytona 500 now. The way racing is now. Oh and I can remember who won the Super Bowl last year, New Orleans beat Indianapolis. If anybody knows me well they know how much I love racing but even i'll admit Nascar will never touch NFL football in ratings. Racings competitive nature has went by the wayside, football still has it. Pro and college.

Do you know the meaning of being Humilated in public

Current NASCAR

To add to what I previously posted. I dont see any problem with making changes in between races but doing it during the middle of the race is pretty lame. Maybe they should have asked Dale Jr.'s pit crew. He hasnt done anything all year so they should be well rested. I'm sorry just a joke but had to say it.

All that happened today is that the world got to see what type of person Chad Knaus is. He showed how much of a team player he is. He is all about me. He has always been the one reason why I never liked the Lowes team winning. All I know is what I saw in Jimmies interview was a disturbed look on his face. I think he felt the same way as many other people did. What happened today is what Nascar has become. I feel for that pit crew and I know their morale took a hit. But Chad will get his one day. I just hope I can see it.

Dale and Tim Richmond tangle at Pocono

Stock Car Racing History

Cody, you mean the wreck in 1992 when DW tried to kill Davey. Davey had some terrible wrecks that year and still almost brought home the championship.
