The Permatex 300 Late Model Sportsman race was run at Bristol International Speedway on Sunday November 5th, 1972. Paul Lewis won the pole with a speed of 106.472 mph over the 1/2 mile track. David Pearson started on the outside front row in a Jack Ingram owned car. Time trials filled the first 24 spots, and the remaining starting positions were filled by 2 qualifying races with 20 cars starting in each race.
David Pearson led 290 laps, and took home $1500 for the victory in front of 10000 fans. There were 8 caution flags knocking a total of 10 car out of the race.

Jack, Dad said he drove Odell Trotter's '65 Chevelle in this race. They had just put disc brakes on the rear and ended up not having much brakes.
