Origins of Figure Eight Racing: Where and When?!!

Stock Car Racing History

Great question Butch. I don't put a lot of faith in TV's historical knowledge anymore and I'm glad you don't either. I hope you find out more about the Old Orchard Board track...let us know if you find anything. Those board tracks go back a long way racing bicycles since they really can't race on the old horse tracks because of dirt.

ARE THEY GONNA BREAK OUT THE SOAP FOR MOUTHWASH???

Current NASCAR

I think it is. I agree with you Johnny. I'm going to wait until after Tuesday night's Legendtorial to say how I really feel about this. Can't wait to hear what the Legend has to say.

Johnny, I'm no intellectual, but if some are offended, turn the ******! scanner off. Supposed to private conversations anyway.

Intentional wrecking

General

Johnny makes a good point...Define Intentional. JPM to Ryan Newman, Intentional. Carl Edwards to Brad Keselowski, intentional. Park the offender for the rest of the race (forget the 5 lap thing), no exceptions. Nascar should have a pretty good idea what is rubbin' and what is intentional. Just do your job and enforce it. They are too inconsistent.

Just my humble view.

Old Racer

General

Randy, that is a tough find, but I'll keep my eyes open. I know a couple of guys who are working on or built Supermodified replicas from the 60's because the originals are long gone. I'm sure the old coupes are out there somewhere, it's just finding them as you know. Have you checked with Allan Brown or Marty Blume at the MMSHoF? Another person you might check with is Bobby Williamson or Jack Walker if you can travel to South Carolina. They usually have their eyes open for originals but I realize you'd rather have a Michigan car.. Good luck!

Question of the day for March 27, 2011

I liked the Gold and Blue #17 that Pearson drove in 1969. It was a plain factory car that always ran well. Just liked the look at speed.

Historic Track Closing

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

Dave, hopefully it isn't dead and can continue to operate. Talk about a who's who in racing...WOW what a line up of drivers. How were the recent crowds and car counts at Southside?
