Catsup or Ketchup????

General

Dave, I actually have the 1/24 die cast of that car in the Lair. I've collected die cast for a long time and that one is one of my favorites.

Pk, really? A "pink" cloud"? What were you smoking when you brought that up?

Jeff, having visions? I guess I need to ask what YOU were smoking when you had that vision?

Anticipation!!!!! Can't wait to get this Historic Columbia Speedway Love Chevrolet Festival underway.

Catsup or Ketchup????

General

Always was a puzzlement to me when asking for that red condiment to put on my fries, hamburgers or hotdogs. Not only that, but I've heard those two words pronounced twenty different ways no matter which spelling. I also found out a couple weeks ago in some of the reading I'm always doing to prepare for my appearence on Jeopardy, that you NEVER ask for catsup, ketchup, or anything like that if you're eating in a restaurant in France. But, then again, the closest I'll ever get to France is the pavillion to that country located in EPCOT at Walt Disney World.

Know where all this is leading? I doubt it seriously. If you do, pat yourself on the back and applaud your ability to understand the ramblings of The Legend. What I'm thinking is that several years ago there was a TV commercial about anticipating the final delivery of the Ketchup from the bottle and the song "Anticipation" (which I happen to like) played as we watched the slow movement of the ketchup working it's way out of that bottle. Well, it's not the ketchup I'm waiting for tonight, nor anticipating. BUT, I am full of anticipation for the Third Annual Love Chevrolet Racers Reunion at the Historic Columbia Speedway starting this Thurday, April 14th, with the chicken bog cookoff and the candlelight track walk. Friday night is a cruise in at Piggly Park and then music at the track. Then Saturday is the day when there will be so many drivers gathered there and the place will be full of memories of historic events at the speedway.

So, catsup or ketchup? I don't really care, I prefer mustard on my fries anyway. But I am anticipating a great event this week. Come join us and find out. Check the Events Calendar here on the main page.

Oh, and if you want to experience a Goat Rodeo first hand, come out to The Sports News Grill at the Holiday Inn, I-26 and 378 (McSwain Drive) Tuesday night. Show is from 7:00 to 9:00. If you are wearing racing apparel of any kind, you get 10% off your dinner bill. Hope to see many of you there.

Pass the salt please.

Drive to end hunger...huh?

Bobby, those where my thoughts when I saw the sponsorship. Ann and I were actually members of AARP until they chose to get invovled in politics which did not work with MY agenda so I dropped THEIR agenda and cancelled membership. I must admit, however, that I am pleased, though somewhat surprised, to see that AARP determined its advertising money to be best invested in Stock Car Racing.

THANK YOU

General

Randy,

Thanks for posting this forum. I always like to hear that folks here feel at home because I sort of think of us all as members of a family working to preserve the integrity of the sport we love. It's great to have you as a member. Also, looking at your profile I note that we all owe you a huge thank YOU for your years of service to our country. We're proud to have you here and, as Jeff said, don't be a stranger. Hang out here often. There is much going on most all the time.

Snubbed Again in NC - What's Missing?

Stock Car Racing History

Nice post Kyle, and I'm not critizing, per se,. the Blue Devil/Wolfpack folks, just the general mentality of the college sports world, and especially the basketball. I expect flack from that remark, but seriously, listen to the interviews with those players. 95% of them can barely be understood. But, look back through your history because I do remember from years ago, Dukies tearing up property because they won the title. Never made sense to me but I remember it happening although I can't tell you when.

Hope everything is well with that new kid!! Are you getting any sleep??? lol

Snubbed Again in NC - What's Missing?

Stock Car Racing History

Just remember this. These five choices reflect the mentality of the folks who go out and turn over police cars and set fires when their team loses the basketball championship games. I would like to think race fans have more sense than that and it does appear they do. I don't recall any Kyle Busch fans vandalizing public property after he loses a race. Seems "higher" education doesn't necessarily mean "learning".

A New "Legend" - Did they check with Tim?

General

Dave, thanks for watching my back. I do not anticipate any contact from Cheerwine but they are missing a really good opportunity here with Racers Reunion. They should jump right on this bandwagon for support of all the Legends we have here. I am "The Legend" because Jeff needed a non-offensive name to call me in front of kids and ladies, thus The Legend was born. I enjoy it though because I get to interact with so many wonderful folks as I did in Mooresville for The Legends Helping Legends and will in Columbia. Again, thanks for your support.

DO YOU HAVE PLANS FOR SATURDAY?

General

If you are anywhere near the midlands of South Carolina, you need to consider these options:

1. Austin Leitner, an up and coming young driver with tremendous driving talent and an awesome personality, will be appearing with his race car at The Hess Gasoline Station at the interestion of Highways 6 and 378 in Lexington, just across from the Food Lion and between Food Lion and First Allicance Bank. Austin will be there about 10:00 a.m. Kids will be able to have their picture taken in the race car. There will be alot going on and well worth the time. For what it's worth, I'll be there from about 10:00 a.m. til noon.

2. Tartan Days South at The Historic Columbia Speedway. This is the premiere of all things Celtic at the Historic Track and could grow into an event such as the long running celebration at Mt. Mitchell which draws thousands every year.

3. Sumter Speedway will hold an open house for drivers, cars, and fans, starting about 2:00 p.m. and admission is free. I will be there about 2:00 until whenever, promoting the Love Chevrolet Racers Reunion event at Historic Columbia Speedway.

Hope to see many of you as can make it.

Tim
