Super Dirt Week Moves to Oswego

Local and Regional Short Track Racing

The Cuomo's, past and present, are one of the reason's that I no longer live in N.Y. That, along with the stench of rotten politics coming from Albany.

Now North Carolina has it's share of corruption and is far from perfect, but we do insist you use the public rest rooms that God assigned to you.

As far as those here in N.C. that persist in violating this simple direction from God, the rest of us are going to round up all the cheap wig, lipstick smeared, red hooker heels clad individuals, put them on a one way, rainbow colored express bus to the capital building steps in Albany and let Cuomo's teenage daughter share a stall with them.

Be careful who you pick your fights with there Stumpy, cause The Tar Heel State is way over your head.

another great one gone

Stock Car Racing History

As a Fonda Speedway regular, I had the thrill of watching Bill Wimble compete against the best that The Track of Champions had to offer. In that ten year span, I never saw Bill Wimble become enraged or loose his cool with another competitor, on or off the track. Bill Wimble recorded 43 Fonda feature wins, was the Fonda Track Champion 5 times (in ten years) and was a Nascar National Sportsman Champion twice. I will miss my Hero.

My deepest condolences to wife Sassy and the entire Wimble family.

TONY STEWART

Current NASCAR

Maybe Brian France has not yet realized that the state of the sport itself......has a couple of lug nuts missing.

(Example; You could have stepped up to the ticket booth at Bristol at 2:00pm last Sunday and bought a ticket to ANY seating section you wanted.)

Pete Corey and the Fonda Speedway fan.

Stock Car Racing History

This is a pic of Pete Jr. on the throttle of his big block modified. I believe this is at Fonda Speedway and in about the mid 70's.

Am I right about this Pete?

Pete Corey and the Fonda Speedway fan.

Stock Car Racing History

Upstate New York, mid 50's, Saturday night....you were probably at the drive-in with the smell of hot buttered pop corn or you were at Fonda Speedway where oil smoke, spent gasoline from open headers and burnt rubber filled your head. And your popcorn had a sprinkling of clay dust.

If it was the latter, like me, you were the lucky ones.

Seems like, at this time, everyone had a hero, b-ball, f-ball or what ever. Mine drove a black 37' Ford coupe with white flames and red #22 on the door.
My hero was Pete Corey. Winner of the 1955 Langhorne Championship race.

(BTW,...some say that's how Fonda got it's nick name "The Track of Champions").

Pete Corey. You didn't have to like him. Lord knows many fans and competitors didn't and I never fully understood why.

Maybe it was that special gold metal flake helmet of his or that cocky swagger or maybe that cold stare that left you with no doubt of his seriousness. I don't know.

Serious.....Oh, he was absolutely serious. Ask any competitor how he felt about having Pete Corey tapping his bumper with two laps to go in the feature. Pete didn't come to Fonda or anywhere else to finish second.

I do know from the first night I saw that black #22 run and Pete smiled and shook this twelve year old's hand......I've been a Pete Corey fan.

Photos are believed to have been taken by Russ Burg, Fonda track photographer

Rockingham

Current NASCAR

Well,..........I for one, certainly hope it's true and would love to hear sum thunder at the Rock again.

I do not however, put much stock in the rumor that the extra draw card is going to be Charlotte's f-ball and b-ball pros in a 25 lap feature rental car death match. Cam, of course will drive THE SMARTCAR #1.

Rockingham Speedway - 2016?

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

If Mr. Silas has the strong desire to field a competitive truck series entry and a Nascar track owner, he won't be the first multi-million dollar investor to be come a millionaire.

AND THE WINNER IS

Current NASCAR

I don't know about an upset Johnny, but just think of the noise Jr. Nation would be making this week if the #88 was going to Homestead as a title contender.

Kurt Busch being investigated for domestic assault

Current NASCAR

"50 ways to kill a Nascar career" by Kurt Busch."

Thislittle flare upisdeep Kurt, and may not leave you with many employment opportunities.

Except maybe pro football/basketball, where this type of personnel behavior is not only accepted,...it's expected.

P.S. Not to add to your woes Kurt, but I understand that Ryan Newman and Carl Edwards are waiting for you out behind your motor home.

Wonder Boy (with busted lip) Calls Bad Boy Brad a Little Dip....

Current NASCAR

Where the crap would have really hit the fan is if Jamie Little would have got dragged into that and possibly caught a punch or two.

Just think about the national news coverage and black eye Nascar would have with that.
