Daytona Sportsman Results, Feb 25,1955
The annual Daytona Beach-Road Course Sportsman race was held on February 25th, 1955 on a cold and windy day. Milt Hartlauf of Louisville, KY took the pole on the previous day with a beach run of 119.641 mph. When the race started Hartlauf led the first lap, but went over the first turn on lap 2 ending up in the dunes. Speedy Thompson of Monroe, NC drove the # M-5 Fish Carburetor Ford to a 2 ½ minuet victory over Dick Blackwell. There were 36 cars running at the finish. Thompson won $600 for the victory.
