Fourth Annual Legends Helping Legends

General

It was a wonderful day and I enjoyed every second. Thanks to everyone who put this on and to the special people who worked so very hard in all they did, especially Kevin and Mark who had to watch me come in and out of that door so many times. What a wonderful thing it is to spend time with all those drivers who were my hereos in my younger days and now I realize, even more so now!Tim

Nationwide Agents (Busch Wackers) and Camping World Campers

Current NASCAR

Excellent comment Russell and very true. The big tracks and shows of today came from the short tracks, dirt and asphalt, that established the history we try so hard to preserve here. Thanks for adding your comment.Tim

Kyle, these a very good thoughts and I wish it could be that way to give the drivers seeking to move up a chance to show what they can do without being overshadowed by the Cup guys. When I was coming up in the driving ranks, You started in Hobby. If you started winning everything, you were moved up WITHOUT the option of moving back. Then Limited Sportsman and when you got good you moved up to Late Model Sportsman but you didn't have the option of going back. Once you left Late Model and went up to Grand National, that was supposed to be the top. But very quickly, very, very quickly in fact. promoters learned that bringing Bobby Allison to Columbia Speedway to race Late Model on Thursday night when he was in Darlington for qualifying anyway was a big ticket seller. Guess you can't blame the promoter, but I agree that I wish it could be a stand alone series for Truck and for Nationwide. I guess we just keep wishing things would make sense but somehow, in the world of money chasing, things don't change when the dollars are rolling in.Tim

It is with deep regret and sadness that I must inform you all

General

That I actually sat down this afternoon and watched the movie Red Line 7000 made in 1965. I had seen it at the world premier here in Columbia at special invitation of the movie producers. It was exciting with Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson and several of the movie stars in attendance and I was privileged to sit with the VIP group. I believe Ned probably had something to do with that. However, after watching that movie today I am strongly considering contacting Jeff Gilder, resigning as The Legend, and joining that Monestary down on the coast. That was an awful, awful, awful movie. It was good, however, to see the 1964 and 1965 races they managed to get in there. Love those old cars.

How would you fix NASCAR?

General

What I want to know is this: How can you bunch of guys, who have no monetary reward interest in the sport, come up with almost ALL the correct ideas to fix the sport when those highly educated, rich, spoiled kids enjoying the Daytona weather this time of year seem to miss it entirely? Even Cody Dinsmore, admittedly a precocious 13 year old, makes those in power in NASCAR appear to be totally inept. We are the folks who made the sport. I've said it before, and you guys have said it most eloquently, it's not that difficult to fix. Perhaps we should go back to the Burma Shave signs that used to be on the highways but this time put them instead on the "sneeze guard" of the buffet line Mike Helton goes down 8 times a day.

Edward vs Keselowski

General

David Bentley, I am very guilty of overuse of the word "awesome" because since I found this site almost everything I encounter here is awesome, but I totally understand and agree with the essence of your post. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I did hear that Carl Edwards did post, on his Facebook Site today, that he did cause the accident intentionally but he didn't realize it would be that bad. If NASCAR doesn't park his butt for a race or two, or three, they need to go back a few years and give Kevin Harvick a $100,000.00 bonus for that parking they did of him at Martinsville I think it was. Carl Edwards has been the darling child of the media for quite a long time but the insiders know he is not as he appears on camera and yesterday sort of brought some of the real flipping Edwards into clear view.Tim
